General Tutoring
$70 per hour
Keeping up with all the information learned in class can be a daunting task. We offer one-on-one private tutoring in the general subject areas of Math, Science, English, and History. Whether the student needs a one time session to help prepare them for an upcoming exam, or would like regular tutoring on a weekly basis in order to continuously strengthen their understanding of the material taught in class, they will find that our expert tutors patiently and effectively explain difficult concepts in simple, clear terms. We work with the student to craft a customized lesson plan based on their needs. The lessons start with a brief review of previous material in order to build upon a strong foundation, while the majority of the session is focused on getting the student to fully understand current material, and the remainder of the time is used to help prepare the student for upcoming material in the course. Our general tutoring follows Common Core standards, and is also tailored to Regents exams as necessary.

- This meeting can be held via phone/video call and lasts about 5-10 minutes.

- There is a 5 minute follow up call between the tutor and parents to discuss progress.
SHSAT Prep
The SHSAT exam tests the student’s ability to think comprehensively, both linguistically and mathematically. It is the main factor in the decision process to some of the best High Schools in the city. These are commonly referred to as the “Specialized High Schools,” and include the following:
- Bronx High School of Science
- The Brooklyn Latin School
- Brooklyn Technical High School
- High School of American Studies at Lehman College, in the Bronx
- High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College, in Manhattan
- Queens High School for the Sciences at York College
- Staten Island Technical High School
- Stuyvesant High School, in Manhattan
We start with an initial diagnostic exam that mimics a full length SHSAT exam to help us understand how to approach the student’s needs and familiarize the student with the exam. From the diagnostic score, we devise a personalized program to obtain the most benefit. The sessions can range from one on one sessions to groups and classes depending on preference and need.
